This recipe is perfect for the autumn season! Herbed goat cheese dip is a great appetizer to serve at parties and gatherings. It’s easy to make, but has an elegant taste that will impress your guests. The recipe includes fresh herbs and can be made with or without red pepper flakes to spice it up.
My obsession with goat cheese is relatively new. I think that I first had it and really enjoyed it about 6 years ago while working at a wine expo, and I don’t think I’ve ever looked back. This dip, I kid you not, I found myself licking off of the spoon. Don’t judge me.
What do I need to make this?
3.5 ounces goat cheese, room temperature
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ tablespoon parsley, minced
1.5 tablespoons mixed herbs (I use thyme, rosemary, mint)
½ cup sour cream
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 garlic clove, minced
What is goat cheese, or “chevre”?
Chevre is basically any cheese made from goat’s milk. The word “chevre” comes from the French for “goat” and is short for Fromage de chevre, or cheese of goat.
There are a variety of ways to make chèvre but it can be soft and unaged like Brie or more firm with a washed rind which gives off an earthy taste that some people find unpleasant.
Chevres usually have small holes in them because they’re pressed into giant molds so when you open up one there are little bits sticking out all over the place!
What about these herbs?
Rosemary:
Rosemary has been used for centuries as a natural cure-all. As it contains rich sources of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, this herb is thought to help with boosting the immune system and improving blood circulation. It also can be taken in conjunction with other supplements or medications for cognitive improvements such as memory performance and quality; alertness, intelligence, the focus are all benefits you may experience when taking rosemary!
Rosemary’s active ingredients have been studied extensively by scientists over time which shows that its traditional use was not just folklore – Rosemary really does improve physical wellness through antioxidant support while aiding mental concentration thanks to its stimulating effects on neurochemicals related to attentional processing during challenging tasks like studying or working out mentally intensive puzzles.
Thyme:
Thyme oil is a powerful blend of antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are commonly used in foods, cosmetics, and toiletries. It can be found as an ingredient in mouthwash or even on many different types of skincare products!
Studies have found that thyme oil has may also help with blood pressure, cough, and may promote a good mood.
Parsley:
A diet with high quantities of natural foods and few manufactured foodstuffs could have significant impacts on one’s health. For example, eating ten sprigs of parsley a day will provide an individual with enough vitamin K to meet the daily requirement for this nutrient according to Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee 2000 guidelines; furthermore, consuming more produce is linked to reduced risk in many diseases which usually originate from poor nutrition such as heart disease or diabetes.
