What is a margarita?
A margarita is a cocktail made with tequila, triple sec (or other orange-flavored liqueur), and lime or lemon juice. The tartness of the lime helps balance out the sweetness from the sugar in your mixed drink to create a sour/sweet flavor that’s perfect for any hot summer day! It was invented by a bartender from Mexico City in 1941.
What is the history of the margarita?
The history of the margarita is complicated, but what’s not to love about it? The first mention of anything that sounds like a “margarita” appears in 1936 when an American journalist nicknamed Don Carlos Ovidio Pulido describes one as “a drink composed of equal parts white tequila and orange curacao served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass.
How do you make a coconut margarita?
Ingredients
- 1 ½ ounces 1800 reposado tequila
- ½ ounce cointreau
- 1 ounce coconut cream
- 1 ounce coconut milk
- ½ ounce fresh lime juice
- Splash of half and half
- Splash of simple syrup ½ cup erythritol, ½ cup water brought to a boil until sugar dissolved, then cooled.

Instructions
- Pour all ingredient in an ice filled shaker
- Shake until blended well
- Strain over fresh ice in a salt-rimmed glass or serve straight up with a lime wedge.

- ½ ounce fresh lime juice
